Whether you’re a SUP-ing super athlete or a newbie novice, there is one thing most paddlers have in common: great music. There’s something special about enjoying the beauty of SUP with your favorite tunes filling your head.

Like other sports, music helps set your rhythm and keep your spirits high. Feel like a high-energy workout? No problem with metal, classic rock or even some pop Country.

Feeling a little more zen? Nature sounds or cool jazz might be for you.

But have you ever thought about stand up paddle boarding to reach music destinations?

Yes, it’s a thing and it’s spectacular! Our entire team at iROCKER is totally into the SUP-to-Tunes group outing.

But first, since we’re talking about music, we want to take a moment to give a shout out to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who’s given SUP-ers and surfers and moms, dads, kids and basically everyone some of the best tunes ever. May she rest in peace.

Seeking SUP-to-Tunes

Festivals across the country are combining competitive and non-competitive paddle sports with live music. We are totally pumped about that! Really, what better way to spend a day on the water than with live music and an outdoor party?

This is one of those times that having an inflatable stand up paddle board becomes really important. Festivals can be very crowded and finding a safe place to stow a rigid board can be an impossible task.

We take the worry out of that by making every iROCKER easy to deflate, pack away, and carry in a handy backpack. (It’s seriously simple. You can see for yourself here.)

If that’s not enough good news, there’s more.

You might need to sit down for this….

The Association of Paddlesurf Professionals recently announced the launch of their City Paddle Festivals. These events connect New York, London and Paris in a global community celebration centered around a love for paddle sports.

Just imagine the Big Apple as your backdrop for competitive SUP racing around Lady Liberty PLUS live music, SUP yoga and delicious food all in one weekend.

But wait, there’s more!

If you’re the type who prefers nature over festival crowds, look no further than Crested Butte, Colorado, where the Big Blue Festival combines its largest body of water with a music festival and SUP in one amazing event.

You can also grab your iROCKER SUP and head to the I Bar Ranch, where you’ll find concerts, SUP races, games and clinics all day. This is an annual August event, so put it on your calendar for next year, and get your gear here.

Although you can find musical festivals suitable to SUP to throughout the country and around the world, (thank you, Google), there’s one more worth a mention here. It’s the Tuck Fest in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tuck Fest is a multi-day event with competitions, clinics, exhibitions and live music at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC). It features multiple outdoor competitions, including trail running, kayaking, climbing and of course, SUP.

“Tuck Fest” was named after the Tuckaseegee Ford and Trail, which is a historical landmark located at the USNWC. Imagine that, a little history while you SUP.

Tuck Fest is a four-day event in April, 2019. Here’s an idea: consider a multi-person inflatable stand up paddleboard like our iROCKER Big Blue and invite your friends to share the adventure.
